In the next patch of World of Warcraft, you will create your own trinket. You can determine many attributes of the new jewelry piece yourself and gain powerful bonuses.
With Patch 8.2, a lot will change in World of Warcraft. In addition to the two new areas Nazjatar and Mechagon, there are also many changes to game mechanics. New systems will also be introduced.
If you want to customize your gear according to your individual preference, you should pay attention – because in Mechagon you can build your own piece of jewelry (trinket)!
Where can you find the new jewelry in WOW? According to the current state, the “Pocket-Sized Computational Device” will be obtained through the quest line in Mechagon. As it befits gnome technology, this jewelry piece can be equipped with various punch cards to gain new properties and attributes. The various punch cards are basically different colored sockets (like at the jeweler), but with more powerful effects.
These punch cards are available: In the presentation, 9 different punch cards were already shown, 3 for each socket place. Depending on the color, the punch cards have different effects. Essentially, the punch cards seem to be sorted as follows:
- Yellow: Pure attributes for the jewelry piece, such as critical strike rating or versatility.
- Red: An active ability or a powerful passive buff. This includes the channeling of a damage spell or a chance to increase speed by 10% for a few seconds.
- Blue: Blue punch cards are “fluff” effects, so little gimmicks. For example, you can increase the underwater breathing duration by 1000% or have mechanical enemies displayed on the minimap.
Interaction with Azerite traits: Moreover, some punch cards are also said to be capable of enhancing or slightly altering certain Azerite traits from the Azerite armor. However, examples of this will likely only be seen when the patch is playable on the PTR.
Where can you find new punch cards? The punch cards, that is, the upgrades for the jewelry piece, can be obtained from almost all game content related to Mechagon. This can include rare mobs, world quests, or even a visit to the dungeon “Operation: Mechagon”.

How long will you be wearing the jewelry piece? Whether the jewelry piece is so good that it serves as a constant companion in Patch 8.2 or will be replaced after a short time remains to be seen. However, that Blizzard allows players so much freedom in customizing their gear is a novelty and will certainly serve as an experiment to see if this will be allowed in future expansions.
Please keep in mind that the jewelry piece and its extensions may still change before the release of Patch 8.2. Blizzard wants to wait for player feedback from the PTR, which begins next week.
