When it comes to the future, love sometimes has to take a backseat – even in World of Warcraft. And you must prevent Illidan from getting together with Tyrande.
In the next patch of World of Warcraft, the Update 10.1.5 Rifts in Time, things are a bit turbulent – especially regarding the timelines. Because they have once again been thrown into chaos by the Eternals and now threaten to make reality uncertain as well. One quest is particularly amusing. Instead of primarily doing “good” deeds, you must guarantee something else: Illidan Stormrage must never have a girlfriend!
What is wrong with the timeline? In the faulty timeline, Tyrande is not with Malfurion, but is on a date with Illidan. Before the War of the Ancients, Tyrande had not chosen either of the two brothers, but both were in love with her. In the “true” timeline, Tyrande ultimately chooses Malfurion.
During the quest, the future demon hunter apparently tricked his brother. Illidan found a poem that Malfurion had written for Tyrande. Instead of his brother, he recited the poem to her and now takes the credit for the beautiful poem.
Throughout the quest, you must collect Tyrande’s favorite flowers and encourage Malfurion to approach the two and expose Illidan’s deception.

Confronted with this, Illidan admits that the poem does not come from him, but that “every word corresponds to his feelings”. However, Tyrande is not impressed and afterwards leaves with Malfurion to continue the date with him.
It is somewhat ironic, of course, that Malfurion does not collect the flowers himself, but we do it for him. The difference from reciting a false poem is not that big …
A trailer for patch 10.1.5 is already available:
Why is this important for the timeline? That Illidan is rejected by Tyrande is relevant not only for the fate of Azeroth but for the entire cosmos. It is only because of the rejection that Illidan subsequently pretends to join the Legion. He believes that this way he can gain the power to defeat the Legion.
He gains the powers that would later make him the first demon hunter. More importantly, due to his later, further rejection not only by Tyrande but also by Malfurion, he is imprisoned for 10,000 years and resolves to defeat the Legion not just in Azeroth but throughout the cosmos.
Ultimately, his efforts culminate at the end of the “Legion” expansion in the capture of Sargeras, the fallen Titan and leader of the Legion.
All of this would not have happened if he had never been rejected by Tyrande.
Another quest line was rewritten before the patch was released: it was simply too harsh.
