The language of the Furbolgs is quite complex – but you can learn it in World of Warcraft in a very short time and then use your character to speak it.
The latest patch of World of Warcraft has brought numerous small innovations that may go unnoticed by many players at first glance. One detail is the possibility of learning a completely new language, namely that of the Furbolgs.
The cool thing about it: You can not only understand the language, but also speak it yourself. It can only be understood by other characters who are also proficient in Furbolg language.
Learning Furbolg – How to become revered with the Winterpelt
How do you unlock the language? If you also want to speak Furbolg, you need to complete a new questline for that.
The quest begins with a letter from Sonova Snowden, which you can collect from your mailbox.
Important: Sonova will only send you the letter if you have completed the two questlines “Rustpine Burrow” and “Winterpelt Cave.” These two questlines were already in the game at the launch of Dragonflight. You can check in the achievement “Visitor of the Azure Mountains” if you have completed them.
Once that is done, you will receive the letter in the mail shortly after, sending you back to Sonova Snowden. Complete three small introductory quests, and afterward you can repeatedly hand in artifacts to Sonova to increase your language knowledge.
How do you improve language knowledge? To increase your language knowledge from level 1 to 100, you now need to farm reclaimed Furbolg artifacts. You can turn in 5 of them for one knowledge point with Sonova Snowden. To go from skill level 0 to 100, you need to collect a total of 500 reclaimed Furbolg artifacts.
But don’t worry: If you’re thinking about the reputation grind of the Furbolgs in the Woodchipper Fortress during Vanilla, you’re far from reality. To become revered with the Winterpelts or to fully master the language, you only need to plan about 60 to 90 minutes. If you already have a well-equipped character, it might go even faster.
How do you best farm? To collect “Reclaimed Furbolg Artifacts” the fastest, travel to the Azure Mountains at coordinates 78 / 40. Here you will find numerous elite enemies. Ignore the large fire elementals and giants; instead, focus on the smaller Tarasek. They have just under 500,000 health but drop 2-8 artifacts each time and have a chance to leave behind an “Intact Scribe Staff.”
The Scribe Staff can also be turned in for learning the language and grants one point in language skill. One Scribe Staff is worth the same as 5 artifacts.
How do you speak Furbolg? If you want to speak the new language, you need to select it in the chat window. To do this, click the small speech bubble, choose “Language” with the cursor further down, and select Furbolg.
Note that you can only use the language in /say and /yell. While you are in a group, the language will automatically switch so that all group members can understand each other.
Are there any further rewards? Yes, there are. To receive them, you need to complete the additional quests you get from Sonova Snowden and the Furbolgs. You unlock them every 25 language skills – that is, at 25, 50, 75, and 100. The rewards include toys, such as a transformation into a Furbolg, a large snow globe under which you can hide, and glasses that make the entire game look blurred.
The quests are all quite short and usually consist of only two or three tasks. By completing the missions, you will also become revered with the Winterpelts and can shop at their reputation vendor.
