New items in WoW suggest that players will soon be able to craft their own Keystone. We reveal how this could go down.
A new version of the Alpha for Battle for Azeroth was deployed to the test server last night. In this game version of World of Warcraft, a number of items were extracted, allowing for better configuration of the “Mythic+” dungeon keys.
With these items, it is possible to freely set the various parameters of a “Mythic+” Keystone:
- The “+” level of the dungeon can be freely set up to “Mythic+30”.
- The exact dungeon can be selected. Each (current) Legion dungeon has a scroll to customize the Keystone.
- The affixes can be freely selected. Each affix has its own scroll.

“Mythic+” settings only for tournaments?
However, there is still no indication that these items will actually make it into the live version of World of Warcraft; rather, the opposite seems to be the case. No sources can be identified from which these items might originate.
It is certainly possible that these items are used solely for testing purposes on test servers. Alternatively, they could also be used on special tournament servers, such as during the Dungeon Invitational. Here, different teams compete against each other and must prove that they can complete the dungeon in the shortest possible time. It would be practical to quickly make the corresponding settings by simply visiting a special vendor with these items.
Most players see the “Mythic+” system as successful, although the high RNG factor, especially regarding the choice of dungeon and the weekly affixes, causes frustration. Having more freedom there could help – however, it would also make the system more susceptible to targeted exploitation.
What do you think about this change? Would it be cool if you could customize the Mythic keystones?
Have you seen the Mythic Raider who types all spells with “/cast” commands?
