The Amalgam of Rage in World of Warcraft looks extremely dark. However, if you want it, you need to buy Diablo IV – and there’s a catch.
At the “The Game Awards”, Blizzard announced the release date of Diablo IV and opened pre-orders. Along with that, there are some rewards in other games, such as World of Warcraft. The “Amalgam of Rage” looks pretty dark and really dangerous.
What kind of mount is this? The Amalgam of Rage is a type of “Three-headed Hell Hound” with quite a lot of details. The dogs not only breathe fire, but parts of their bodies are also singed by flames, so that either the fur is burnt and in some places even the bones are visible. Once the Amalgam takes off, burning wings form at the sides, allowing it to be used as a flying mount.
How do you get the “Amalgam of Rage”? Since this is one of Blizzard’s well-known “cross-promotions,” the Amalgam is basically available for real money. You must opt for the pre-order of Diablo IV. Which version you choose (between €70 and €100) is not relevant. Once you complete the pre-order, the Amalgam of Rage is immediately unlocked for your WoW account and you can use it as a flying mount from then on.

Mount has little use in Dragonflight: It is important to mention that the “Amalgam of Rage” will have little utility in the current expansion Dragonflight and the Dragon Isles. In Dragonflight, all players mainly use the four different dragons, as only they can be used for “dragon riding.” While it is possible to “use” flying mounts in Dragonflight, they can only be used as ground mounts here.
At least according to the current patch status, you would only be able to use the Amalgam of Rage outside the Dragon Isles in the old content.
Who is this worth it for? Currently, the mount is probably most worthwhile for collectors who want to own every mount in World of Warcraft or for anyone who is certain they will definitely play Diablo IV. Since the “Amalgam of Rage” will have virtually no use in Dragonflight, there’s no rush to get this mount. You have several months to decide whether you want to obtain the mount.
Will you get the mount – with or without the intention of playing Diablo IV? Or does the mount not appeal to you if it can’t be used meaningfully in Dragonflight?
