Patch 9.1 will be unpleasant for some players of World of Warcraft. Because some of you will be almost “forced” to rebuild your legendary items.
In a week, the first major content update for World of Warcraft Shadowlands will finally begin. Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination brings a lot of new content, but also some unpleasant problems. Because it may be that you have to recreate your beloved Legendary – for a different equipment slot. The cause of this is the “Shards of Domination”.
What are the Shards of Domination? The Shards of Domination are very special gem sockets that drop from the bosses in the Sanctum of Domination. They cannot be used in normal sockets. Instead, socket slots are only available on equipment from the new raid.
Each character can install up to 5 of these shards into their armor, unlocking powerful effects. Here are a few of the different bonuses that will be available:
- Your damage is increased by 2% as long as you have more than 50% of your maximum health points.
- Your critical healing effects cause the target to absorb the next 228 damage points.
- Dealing damage to a target increases the damage the target takes from you by 0.33%. This effect is stackable up to 4 times.
This situation ensures that you should wear as many socket slots and thus as many items from the raid as possible. If an important slot is already occupied by a legendary item, it makes sense to exchange the item and put the legendary effect on a new slot.
Which equipment is affected? It all depends on your armor type. Depending on which armor class your character wears, different items may have a socket slot for the “Shards of Domination”. Basically, the following equipment from the Sanctum of Domination can have the coveted “socket slots”:
- Helmets
- Shoulders
- Chest
Additionally, these slots come into play depending on your armor type:
- Cloth: Bracers and Belts
- Leather: Gloves and Boots
- Mail: Belts and Boots
- Plate: Bracers and Gloves
What does this mean? In simple terms, it means you should recreate your beloved Legendary to occupy a different slot that cannot be equipped with a Shard of Domination. Only then can you add the maximum of 5 Shards of Domination to your equipment while still maintaining the effect of your legendary item.
However, Blizzard seems to be aware of this issue. Therefore, the legendary items that currently share a slot with armor intended for shards will receive an additional option. Previously, you could only apply a legendary power to the head and shoulder – like with “Twins of the Sun Priestess” – but in Patch 9.1, there will be a third option. The effect can also be applied to a necklace.
This change applies to all legendary powers that would otherwise have a complete overlap with the slots for the Shards of Domination.
For many players, having to recreate your legendary item is certainly frustrating. However, it must also be mentioned that Soul Ash can be farmed much more easily in Patch 9.1 and there is no longer a weekly cap. Therefore, this change is likely to be bearable.
What do you think about this? Thoughtless and annoying? Or is this just part of the introduction of new systems?
