For a long time, players of World of Warcraft had to wait to finally extinguish a hated adversary’s life lights. But soon, the wish will come true.
The Pre-Patch 9.0.1 is now available on the PTR of World of Warcraft and can be played by anyone. In addition to the numerous innovations from Shadowlands, the introductory event for Shadowlands can also be tested there. An interesting quest has now been found that grants players a long-awaited revenge.

Sylvanas’ Servant is in Trouble
One of the “loose ends” in the story of Battle for Azeroth is the search for Nathanos Blightcaller. He was a loyal servant of the Banshee Queen Sylvanas all the time and led many of her attacks. But like Sylvanas herself, Nathanos has been elusive.
With Patch 9.0.1, this will change. Players will receive a quest to finally confront Nathanos Blightcaller.
Where can you find Nathanos? Nathanos will be part of a world boss quest and will be waiting in the Eastern Plaguelands. He has returned to his former home, the Marris estate. Here he lived as a human when he was still named Nathanos Marris, before he became a member of the Scourge and later Sylvanas’ servant. Veterans from Classic may remember that he was once a boss that could be defeated as part of a major group quest.
Why is Nathanos so unpopular? Nathanos Blightcaller is a thorn in the side of many players, both in the Horde and the Alliance. The character is almost always arrogant towards the players and gets away with every misdeed. Whether in Stormheim, at the Battle for Lordaeron, or at Darkshore – Nathanos always survives with a smug grin and a silly remark.
Additionally, many players have a dislike for Nathanos because he is seen as Sylvanas’ “lackey” and anticipates her every wish. This has earned him many nicknames in the WoW community, such as “Sylvanas’ Toyboy” or “The only undead simp.”
Does Nathanos really die? Yes. Once Nathanos is brought down to 10% of his health, a cinematic will even be played. However, so far this is only a placeholder. The proper video is still missing and will likely only be found in the game with the release of Patch 9.0.1.
After the video ends, Blightcaller’s corpse lies on the ground. In both dialogues, for both Horde and Alliance, it is made clear that Tyrande Whisperwind was allowed to deliver the death blow – this will probably also be seen in the cinematic.
Is Nathanos gone forever? That is to be doubted. After all, Shadowlands is an expansion that revolves around the dead and the souls of the deceased. Nathanos was waiting at his hut because Sylvanas tasked him with exactly that in the book “Shadows Rising.” It is entirely possible that we only helped Nathanos get to the Shadowlands to reunite with his Banshee Queen there.
However, we will probably only find out later when Shadowlands is expanded through patches and the story unfolds completely.
