The “World First Race” in WoW Classic is in full swing, but there are some issues. Above all, the queues distort everything. However, this does not deter the pros.
For years, the race for the First Kills in “normal” WoW has been a major part of the game and a motivation for many players to watch Twitch streams of the pros. This is also the case in World of Warcraft Classic. The race for the “World First” title is on again.
Why do the pros do it? There are many reasons for this. On one hand, the current pros from Method and other guilds are quite eager to play WoW Classic and want to enjoy the old version again. On the other hand, the release of WoW Classic fits perfectly into the timeline of “normal” World of Warcraft.
After all, just a few weeks ago the race for the “World First Kill” of Queen Azshara finished. So there is a bit of downtime, as the next raid in Retail WoW is still far off.
A lot of hurdles: However, this “race” for the World First Kill is even more unfair than it already is in Retail. This is mainly due to the exorbitantly long queues that even the professional players have to deal with.
Anyone who has to sit in the queue for 10 or more hours loses valuable time in which other players level ahead of him, making it hard to catch up. By the way, you can watch the stream from Method here:
How far are the pros? Most players from the professional guilds are currently in a level range of 25-35. While they are progressing quickly, they are falling behind some streamers and players who could start right from the beginning. For some hours now, the first players are already reaching level 40.
What is the goal anyway? The goal initially stated was to reach level 60 and clear the Molten Core, the first “real” raid of WoW Classic, completely within the first week. Whether this will succeed will surely become clear in the next few days.
It should be noted that the Molten Core itself is not a particularly complex raid and requires hardly any good equipment. Back then, players had to learn coordination, teamwork, and class understanding. In the Molten Core, the biggest hurdle is to get 40 players to level 60 into the dungeon. Equipment is rather a secondary matter and only becomes really relevant in later raids. However, these other raids will only come in later phases.
Great interest in the stream: It’s also interesting that the stream has garnered relatively high interest. Already by noon, there were consistently 17,000 people watching the stream, who were viewing the rather “boring” leveling race. After all, not much is happening for a while, since it must be leveled in dungeons and through quests.
Are you following the “World First Race” in WoW Classic? Or do you avoid such things because you prefer to enjoy Classic at your own pace?
