Green items become significant in World of Warcraft again. With Battle for Azeroth, they provide an important resource.
Soon, Battle for Azeroth begins, marking a new chapter in the history of World of Warcraft. However, things work a bit differently while leveling in Kul Tiras and Zandalar than WoW players are used to. Unusual (“green”), rare (“blue”), and epic (“purple”) items take on special significance. These should not simply be sold to vendors, but dismantled using a new device: the Scrap-o-Matic 1000.
Materials from the Scrap-o-Matic 1000
Resources from old items: The Scrap-o-Matic 1000 transforms unwanted items – including quest rewards – into various crafting materials. In addition to cloth and ores, there are also items that vendors would otherwise sell, such as threads or flux for blacksmithing. In general, the value of the disassembled items is greater than the profit one would receive by selling them to an NPC.
Where is the Scrap-o-Matic 1000 located? Alliance players find their Scrap-o-Matic at the marketplace in Boralus, while Horde followers seek the market in Dazar’Alor. A brief introductory quest explains how the device works.
Expulsom is the premium material. Dismantling items is the only way (besides the transmutation by alchemists) to obtain Expulsom. Expulsom is a new “premium” material used for particularly powerful recipes. As Expulsom is bind on pickup, crafters can only obtain it through dismantling. Anyone pursuing a profession should definitely be careful not to sell items as they usually would.
With the Scrap-o-Matic 1000, you can also dismantle items that you have crafted yourself. This way, while leveling a profession, you can immediately obtain new materials instead of – as before – just throwing crafted items en masse to the next vendor.
What do you think about the new mechanic of being able to dismantle items?
