WoW players on roleplay realms can rejoice. Thanks to special rules, they can level up a bit faster than other players.
With Battle for Azeroth, there is the War Mode in World of Warcraft. Here, players are permanently exposed to a PvP threat, but additional bonuses await, such as more experience or better rewards. Especially players on RP servers are likely to benefit from special rules – and thus could level up faster than all other players.
War Mode brings bonus XP: The War Mode brings a permanent threat from other players in Battle for Azeroth, but it also offers additional experience points. Players receive 10% more XP for completing quests and killing monsters.
Roleplayers only see their own people: Regarding RP realms, there were some uncertainties about how exactly the War Mode functions there. However, Blizzard has now clarified this. Players on an RP server who switch to War Mode will only see other players from the same RP server who are also in War Mode. On “normal” realms, players can encounter players from other servers, ensuring that there is always a somewhat balanced situation between Horde and Alliance.
Less danger in PvP: On RP servers, there is usually a relaxed atmosphere regarding pure PvP. Even if two PvP-flagged players encounter each other, it does not necessarily lead to combat; often, they even help one another if a quest does not require killing other players. This makes PvP less of a threat, and players are less frequently hindered by “ganks.” We have already described how this plays out in this article:
Exception: Group invitations. However, there is an exception to the rule. If a player from an RP server invites players from other servers into a group, they can also roam around in War Mode on the RP server – just as has been the case until now.
Anyone contemplating leveling on an RP server should be aware that these servers are primarily intended for one thing: roleplaying. If someone cannot get along with that, they will not be happy in the long run on such a server.
