The cash shop of World of Warcraft has a new addition. You can now look like a fairy dragon in the game. However, that is only received “so-so”.
In recent years, it has become a tradition in World of Warcraft to bring something new to the cash shop at least every 6 months. Most of the time, these are mounts, but occasionally also toys or – as in the latest case – a set for transmogrification. This time, however, it is not dark or impressive, but rather cute to silly. You can dress up as a fairy dragon.
What kind of set is this? The Grimmlingflitzerflügel set is not only quite a tongue twister, but also certainly a eye-catcher. With the whole outfit, you look like a fairy dragon. The set includes the entire clothing, from head to foot.

How can you get the set? The set is available in the game’s shop for €20. However, you also get the set for free as a bonus if you subscribe for 6 months by no later than December 14, 2020, or already have such a subscription. If you already have a 6-month subscription, you should receive the Grimmlingflitzerflügel set within the next few days.
The first set with permanent wings: The Grimmlingflitzerflügel set is therefore the first transmogrification in World of Warcraft that grants players permanent wings. While they have no gameplay use, they look quite unique. With the Shadowlands expansion, by the way, wings are also available for all other players. Gliders and similar transmogrifications are part of the unlockable set of covenants.
Comments are overwhelmingly negative: On YouTube, the set is received rather poorly. There are a lot of dislikes on the announcement video and the best-rated comments are quite devastating. The video has received almost 90% “thumbs down”. Among them are sayings like:
- “May God help Blizzard Entertainment.”
- “You are becoming one of the other games we don’t want to play.”
- “This is a cool Fortnite skin.”
- “This is a monument for us clowns who keep playing this game.”
- “The only real WoW killer is WoW itself.”
- “I have a 6-month subscription – can I return it so I don’t get this monstrosity?”
There are also positive comments, but they are rather rare and found far down – many likes do not get them.
Cortyn says: Honestly, I am not that shocked by this transmog set. Of course, it looks a bit silly, but from a role-playing perspective, I find it quite nice – especially concerning the Hallow’s End. And it’s perfect for messing around a bit with friends.
But I also understand the criticism that such a set should be available in the game, if at all, and not for real money. Not everyone can sign up for a 6-month subscription. But that is a discussion that comes up every six months when something new appears in the shop.
