Ragnarok Online
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: Gravity Interactive | Platforms: PC | Release: August 31, 2002| | Website: Ragnarok Online Website
What kind of game is this? Ragnarok Online is a classic and offers you a player experience that differs from modern MMORPGs. It’s not about telling epic stories, showing cutscenes, or allowing players to complete quests alone.
Rather, you fundamentally progress together. The development of your class and your role is the focus. To do this, you take on quests and fight against monsters in the game world. PvP is also possible, for example, in guild wars.
How many classes are there? You have 53 classes available, which are divided into main classes and advanced classes. This allows you to play your character according to your preferences.
Why are there so many classes? Ragnarok Online relies on a class system where your hero has two levels. One is the base level, which affects your character stats, and the other is the job level, representing the experience from your class or job.
You start as a novice and can switch to your first job at level 10. Initially, you have 10 classes to choose from. From here, you can then obtain further classes or specializations that grant you different abilities.
Through the rebirth system, you can essentially improve even further, but you start again at level 1 in your job and have to work your way back up. The same game occurs again with the transcendent classes.
