Normally, Shinys in Pokémon GO have the same Shiny rates. However, some Pokémon are the exception. We list them for you.
What kind of Pokémon are these? We focus here on the Pokémon that you can catch in the wild with good Shiny chances.
There are also some monsters from raids, quests, and eggs that can be found more often. We will briefly introduce these as well.

Which Pokémon have different Shiny chances? The Reddit user “Tobiasz95” took the effort and compared data on Shiny chances. The Shiny variants occur more frequently in the following 10 Pokémon than in others:
- Onix
- Sichlor
- Aerodactyl
- Tannza
- Barschwa
- Perlu
- Bronzel
- Sniebel
- Alolan Exeggutor (probably)
- Lapras (probably)
Why are there different Shiny rates? All of these are Pokémon that are quite rare in the wild. However, to give players a chance to find a Shiny, Niantic slightly increases the rate.
Lapras and Alolan Exeggutor are so rare outside of events that the rate cannot really be determined yet. However, the chance seems to be increased as well.
What is the Shiny chance? There is still much debate about this. Normally, the chance of finding a Shiny in the wild is 1 in 450. The Pokémon on the list are likely to be somewhere between 1 in 50 and 1 in 150, so significantly increased.
What does this mean for players? Some Pokémon from the list can also be found in nests. This includes Sniebel, Sichlor, and Onix.
If you have such a nest in your area, you should definitely take advantage of it. This gives you the best chances of finding a rare Shiny.
Are there such Shinys in raids as well? Some raid Pokémon also have increased Shiny chances. These are mainly the Pokémon that you can only find in raids:
- Flunkifer
- Absol
- Sheinux
- Alolan Marowak
- Alolan Raichu
- all legendary Pokémon
Legendary Pokémon have a chance of 1 in 19. Here you have the best chances of getting a Shiny. All other Pokémon are likely to be around 1 in 30 to 1 in 75. However, a precise probability cannot be determined here either.
Are there Shinys from eggs as well? Baby Pokémon also have an increased Shiny chance. Here the probability is about 1 in 50.
It is also likely that the rate for shiny Alolan Pokémon is increased. While there is not yet enough data for this, it seems that they are also more frequent.
Are there any other such Pokémon? Two examples stand out a bit. The first Pokémon here is Pandir. It can be obtained only from quests and the Shiny chance is increased. It definitely does not sit at 1 in 450.
The second Pokémon is Meltan from the Mystery Box. Currently, the Shiny version is not available, but when it was in the game, the rate was about 1 in 40.
This is important regarding Shiny rates: Just because the probabilities are increased for these Pokémon, it does not mean you will definitely get them. In the end, luck plays a significant role. All Shiny hunters should be aware of this.
