Druchii – The Possibly Most Cruel Elves
The Druchii or Dark Elves are the sadistic brothers and sisters of the Asur, which must already mean something in comparison to some High Elves. The Dark Elves were banished from Ulthuan and moved west to the cold and barren continent of Naggarond. There, under the rule of their Witch King, Malekith, they formed a new realm.
The Dark Elves are a race of ruthless marauders and slaveholders who also employ dark magic. For them, everything revolves around spreading terror and inflicting pain – cruelty is not just welcomed among the Druchii, it is basically their lifeblood.
What they need, they simply take from others. Their powerful navy helps them with this. Their largest ships, the Black Arks, resemble floating fortresses. From these, the Dark Elves attack cities without warning, abduct the captives as slaves to their homeland, and leave everything in ruins.
On the battlefield, the Dark Elves lead all sorts of beasts such as harpies, multi-headed hydras, or black dragons. Unlike the High Elves, they do not use bows, but crossbows. Their famous witch warriors plunge into the fray without much armor, but with two daggers and a lot of bloodlust.
The Dark Elves are eternal enemies of the High Elves, whom they feel have betrayed them. The latter once refused to recognize Malekith as Phoenix King – a position he believes he is destined for. Since then, Malekith and the Dark Elves have been trying to reclaim Ulthuan, but usually without success. Only in the Last Days of the World of Warhammer Fantasy did Malekith manage to become Phoenix King.
