What is Last Oasis? In the survival MMO Last Oasis, you are one of the last nomads on Earth. Survival comes first. You must search for water and food, team up with other players, and defend yourself against all the dangers that the world holds for you.
The Sun as an Enemy
Why is the sun so dangerous? In a vaguely described future, the Earth has stopped rotating. As a result, there is only a small habitable zone remaining on our once blue planet. Where the sun shines, no life is possible.
However, as the Earth continues to orbit the sun, this habitable zone slowly shifts. This means that the nomads never stay in one place for long but must move to stay in areas where they can survive.
Basically, you are fleeing from the death zone that the sun spreads. This somewhat resembles battle royale games, where you also have to run away from a spreading deadly zone. Essentially, however, Last Oasis is a survival game.
What does this mean for the players? It is necessary to keep an eye on the time. The habitable zone shifts slowly. You need to react by discovering new places where you can find resources, food, and water. You should not settle too comfortably in one spot, as it will eventually become uninhabitable.
You also have to constantly consider how long you can gather resources at one oasis and how much you are willing to risk for a few more resources.
Always Stay in Motion
Are there cities? The Flotilla is the only city left where people can retreat. However, it is not a static metropolis, as it would eventually be exposed to the sun.
The Flotilla is a wandering city situated on massive stilts. It moves along with the habitable zone.
How do people travel around? People also use similar methods to move around. The nomads travel through the world on “Walkers.” These are wooden machines that allow anyone to transport their belongings from one oasis to another.
It is possible for nomads to band together with their walkers into fleets or clans to face dangers together. This includes clan wars. Fleets clash in large battles.
When does Last Oasis come out? There are ongoing beta tests for the survival MMO. The Early Access phase is planned for this spring according to Steam, but there is no exact date yet.
