A developer of Starfield spoke in an interview about a weapon that comes with a special design.
On September 6, 2023, the latest role-playing game from Bethesda, Starfield, will be released for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Now, Dane Olds, Starfield’s “Lead Weapon Artist,” spoke in a developer interview about his favorite weapons in the highly anticipated role-playing game. One special rifle stands out.
What kind of weapon is it? One weapon that Olds particularly highlights in the interview is the “Mag Pulse.” According to Olds, it is a magnetically driven weapon that has a grid of a total of 25 barrels.
Moreover, each barrel has its own targeting laser that indicates where the bullet from that barrel will hit (via bethesda.net).
In a highly praised gameplay presentation of Starfield, we already saw some of these magnetic weapons with a variety of barrels in action. In the video, they stood out especially due to the immense number of bullets that rained down on the NPC enemies in a very short time.
Additionally, the weapons shown in the deep dive had massive magazines holding between 50 to 160 rounds and could also be equipped by enemy NPCs.
Rocket Launchers and Revolvers
Does Olds talk about other weapons too? Yes, Olds says he also had a lot of fun with the rocket launcher “The Bridger” as well as a revolver named “The Razorback.” This weapon has a drum with six “White Hot Rounds.” Olds used the Razorback when he wanted to feel like a space cowboy.
Additionally, Olds mentions a weapon called “AA99” that feels “bulky and cool.” However, he did not specify what exactly the AA99 is. He can’t wait to show all the weapons from the role-playing game to the fans.
For Bethesda, the creators of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, Starfield is the first new franchise in 25 years – correspondingly high are the expectations from the developers and the fans. A journalist was able to play Starfield already and believes that people will play it for years.
Undoubtedly, the space RPG is one of the most anticipated games of 2023. A desperate PS5 player even created a petition to bring Starfield to Sony’s console despite the release plan.
Desperate petition demands: Starfield must abandon PC and Xbox and be exclusive to the PS5
