Anyone who has already purchased the golden weapons for Ashe in Overwatch can rejoice. Her Ultimate B.O.B. will also be gilded soon.
The new hero Ashe is quite popular among players of Overwatch. However, there was one point of criticism right at release when she was launched: Her golden weaponry.
Many players had assumed that B.O.B., a character who only appears during Ashe’s Ultimate, would also be gilded. However, that was not the case.
What are golden weapons? Golden weapons represent a reward in Overwatch for the competitive game mode. They can be purchased with “Competitive Points”. They are merely a cosmetic change and do not affect the character or their strength in any way.
Fans demanded a golden mustache: When it became known that B.O.B. did not receive any gilding, fans quickly demanded a change from Blizzard. They wished for either B.O.B.’s hat or his mustache to be gilded, which would add a small, funny accent.
Blizzard goes all out: In the latest patch on the PTR of Overwatch, Blizzard has heeded the wishes of the fans – at least a bit. B.O.B. is now gilded with Ashe’s golden weaponry almost completely. Only his hat and clothing remain unaffected by the gilding.
Fans are happy: The community has responded enthusiastically on Reddit so far, joking that no other character gets so much gold for only 3000 competitive points like Ashe. But after all, it’s to be expected for an evil villainess that she fully gold-plates her weapons.
Other “turret heroes” want more: There is some discontent from Torbjörn and Symmetra players. They wish for similar treatment and hope that their turrets will also be gilded someday, even if that means they can be spotted faster.
