Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) regularly gets limited-time new game modes. This time, there’s the mode “Pure Gold”. In this mode, all weapons are of the best, golden quality.
Fortnite: Battle Royale occasionally offers new game modes. These modes are limited-time and feature special rules for the battle royale combat. There have been modes in the past like “Sniper Duel“, where only sniper rifles and pistols were available as weapons.
Currently, the new game mode “Pure Gold” is active.
Only the Best Gold Weapons!
In the new mode “Pure Gold”, all weapons you find in the game are of golden quality. This means they correspond to the best “legendary” quality level and are particularly powerful.

They deal more damage and usually look cooler. Therefore, the gold items have been extremely rare and often found in contested airdrops. The new mode is only available for teams; duo and solo players are left out.
A Different Game Experience through Legendary Weapons
Due to this new loot rule, different conditions apply in Fortnite: Battle Royale and the gaming feel and gameplay change:
- You are quickly fully equipped, as each weapon is already the best of its kind. Thus, you don’t have to search long for top gear and can dive straight into the fight.
- Some weapons are not available at all. Items like shotguns, burst rifles, regular pistols without silencers, revolvers, and the suppressed SMG have no gold version.
- With the better DPS stats of the gold weapons, battles become much deadlier.
Not Everything is Gold
Grenades, shield potions, and bandages continue to be available in their regular, non-gold versions.
Also cool: When harvesting resources, you get more material. Ideal for barricading against the new firepower.
How long the new mode will remain in the game has not yet been revealed by the developers. On Twitter, only the new game mode “Pure Gold” is announced.
