The Netflix series of One Piece contains many references and incorporates some details from the manga that were not so prominent in the actual story by Eiichiro Oda. A character from Season 1 was presented to the creator in a pitch, but he could not remember them at all.
Warning, Spoiler: The article contains spoilers regarding the introduction of Zorro and his first fight in the Netflix series.
Which character is being referred to? Film producer Matt Owens pitched the introduction of Zorro in the Netflix series to manga artist Eiichiro Oda. As we learn more about Zorro’s past, there is an action-packed fight with Mister 7, who works for the “Baroque” company.
Originally, Oda stated in a Q&A session with fans that Zorro met Mister 7 before joining Luffy’s crew. He wanted to hire him for the “Baroque” company. However, since Zorro had no interest, a sword fight broke out between the two. As we know from the episode, Zorro emerged victorious from the duel.
How did Oda react? Eiichiro Oda reacted with surprise during the pitch for the scene (via Instagram). He turned to one of his staff and asked him:
Did I actually say that?

He could not recall mentioning Mister 7 in a Q&A session. This might be due to the fact that the fight in the manga is only briefly mentioned. Eiichiro Oda has thus never drawn a scene where Zorro fights against Mr. 7.
Oda got to work and presented Owens with a concept drawing of Mister 7 the next day. Based on this, the Mr. 7 from the live-action adaptation was cast. He told Owens that he was impressed by his knowledge and that he liked the idea of Mr. 7 so much that it has now become part of the Netflix series.

What can we expect in Season 2? The story shows the significant interest the producers have in One Piece. Therefore, it is possible that scenes will be shown in the already announced Season 2 which were only hinted at in the manga. So far, we know of a new character that is supposed to appear in the upcoming season.
So far, it is not known which arcs are to be included in Season 2. If the season has a similar number of episodes as Season 1, up to 6 arcs could be told with the upcoming episodes.
As One Piece now has over 1,000 episodes, there is plenty of material for further seasons of the live-action adaptation on Netflix. So far, only the second season of the series has been announced. However, if it has similar success as the first season, more seasons could follow.
If the upcoming seasons do not achieve the expected success, that would be no problem for the actress playing Nami:
