Soon the monster hunt in the Witchwood of Hearthstone will begin. This is the single-player mode. The developers have revealed what is in this mode.
A week ago, the Witchwood of Hearthstone launched. However, after players tore open their card packs and wanted to jump into the new single-player mode, there was great disappointment: The campaign will open its gates later.
The release is now approaching, as the PvE mode of the Witchwood starts on April 26.
Witchwood – The Catacombs 2.0 with new heroes
Basically, the Witchwood is structured like the Catacombs from the last expansion. There are 45 completely new bosses to fight in random order, with the end bosses appearing to follow a fixed sequence.
However, not the 9 regular heroes of Hearthstone are playable, but 4 variations of these characters that we also know as cards from the Witchwood. The playable characters are:
- Genn Greymane (Warrior)
- Tess Greymane (Rogue)
- Master Shaw (Hunter)
- Timewielder Toki (Mage)
The characters each have new hero abilities. For example, Genn Greymane can fire a cannon that hits all enemies directly opposite the cannon – if the cannon kills someone, he can use it again. Positioning of the minions is therefore important.
Meanwhile, Tess can discover spells that have already been played in this round – from both sides – with her hero power. For instance, she can copy the opponent’s secrets or duplicate her own “Eviscerate” multiple times.
New treasures with fun effects
As in the Treasure Hunt, the deck slowly expands in the Monster Hunt, as there are treasures to choose from. Some treasures are already known from the Catacombs, but many treasures are new – there are even bosses that leave unique treasures behind.
For example, there is an Ettin that hurls its minions at the hero, causing their damage in the process. As a treasure, it offers a card with a similar effect: Remove all minions from your hand and deal their damage to the enemy hero. A powerful finisher that can quickly decide a match.
By the way, anyone who manages to complete the Witchwood with all 4 heroes will unlock a special battle – against the witch Hagatha. Here, the strength of all 4 hunters is required. However, detailed information about the boss fight is still missing and will likely remain a secret until the release.
