In The Elder Scrolls Online there is a crossover event with the heavy metal band Trivium right now. You can participate in crazy metal challenges throughout September and even win prizes. What you need to do and how it works can be found here on MeinMMO.
What kind of event is this? From September 7 to September 27, 2021, everything in ESO is about heavy metal! Every three days, there will be a new community challenge that allows you to complete special heavy metal tasks. This entire event is in collaboration with the band Trivium, which was announced during Quake Con 2021.

Why is there a heavy metal event right now? The current theme in the Blackwood chapter involves dark demon beings from a hellish dimension that bring death and destruction.
Moreover, a grim red giant named Mehrunes Dagon leads the hostile hordes, and the entire presentation with red flames and black metal monoliths exudes a strong heavy metal charm. Such a metal event fits thematically well.
ESO is looking for the Metal Superhero – Here’s what you can do
What challenges are there? As part of the big heavy metal challenge, there will be a new challenge every three days. The various tasks are:
- Build a stage in Housing for a rock concert inspired by Oblivion (September 7 – 9)
- Write a song about the theme of Oblivion (September 10 – 12)
- Dress your character in the game as “metal” as possible using the mount system (September 13 – 15)
- Create an ultimate heavy metal playlist that fits ESO and Oblivion (September 16 – 18)
- Find and show a monster in ESO that is the most “metal” (September 19 – 21)
- Come up with an ultimate metal band name related to ESO or Oblivion (September 22 – 24)
- Comment on the image of Mehrunes Dagon released on September 25 with the perfect caption! (September 25 – October 7)
What prizes are there? You can then post your submissions on the official Twitter or Instagram account of ESO, don’t forget the hashtag #ESORocksOut.
At the end of each challenge, three eligible submissions will be selected and receive one of four prize options:
- A code for a pink or a green torchbug
- 1,500 crowns
- A code for the ESO Standard Edition
- A code for the update to ESO: Blackwood
