In Eve Online a power struggle is currently raging that could change the game for a long time and completely alter parts of the universe.
What kind of power struggle is this? In the space MMORPG Eve Online, the PanFam coalition has practically collapsed. The trigger was the voluntary departure of the Pandemic Horde, one of the largest alliances in the coalition.
The PanFam was previously one of the key power blocs in Eve Online, exercising control over large parts of the universe in the MMORPG. They had controlled many systems in the game and ruled over them.
The Pandemic Horde, responsible for the collapse of the PanFam, argued that the large power bloc of the coalition would harm the game itself. This would lead to stagnation in the MMORPG, which provided little fun. For this reason, the Pandemic Horde decided to leave the coalition, triggering a chain reaction of unpredictable magnitude.
A chain reaction changes everything
What did the departure trigger? The departure of the alliance from the coalition was kept secret until shortly before, which caused panic among the members of the other alliances in the coalition when it became known. This moment of weakness was immediately exploited by the arch-enemy “The Imperium”.
They systematically locked down the system R-AG7W and turned it into a hell camp, preventing all escape attempts by players of the PanFam and the Pandemic Horde. After a 5-day battle, the Imperium destroyed the Keepstar there and intercepted many of the last remaining pilots.
Due to the action, many space stations, ships, and further infrastructure in Eve Online were destroyed. This loss also had massive effects on the previously strong PanFam coalition, which shrank from over 49,000 pilots to under 18,000 players.
Many players switched sides to the enemy “The Imperium” after the action or joined other groups like “Winter Co” or “The Initiative”. The previously core territory of the PanFam coalition was subsequently declared an open zone by the enemies of “The Imperium”.

What is happening outside the power struggle in Eve? While the power struggle will likely change the PvP aspect of Eve Online for a long time, players are also having a lot of fun in PvE. The new expansion “Catalyst” focuses on resource gathering, mining, and PvE.
This has also led to the largest increase in players in years, with according to mmorpg.org.pl reaching over 40,000 players at peak for the second time since 2021. The revenue numbers are also said to be at their highest since the acquisition by Pearl Abyss in 2018.
