The Finals is a huge success – not just on Steam. Many players are enjoying the shooter, but since the latest patch, the gunplay feels weird.
What’s wrong with the guns in The Finals? Since patch 1.5.0, players of The Finals have reported that the guns feel different. The so-called weapon bloom during aimed shooting has become more significant since the update.
Weapon bloom refers to the random spread of bullets within the crosshair.
Many players are angry and want the developers to revert the change. A Reddit user illuminacegg wrote in a post on the social network about the issue: “Embark has simply ruined the gunplay.” The post gathered over 800 upvotes within a day.
Meanwhile, it is known that the developers have not changed anything about the guns.
Bug causes altered gunplay
Why do the guns feel different? The developers announced on the official Discord server of The Finals that the increased weapon bloom is not an intended balance change but a bug.
Additionally, Embark assured that they are working to fix this issue as quickly as possible.
We are aware of a bug in update 1.5.0 that causes some weapons to have bloom when fired while aiming through the sights. This is not an intentional balance change, and we will strive to fix this as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the developers mentioned on Discord about a bug that doubles the multiplier for zoom sensitivity on controllers. The original value of 60% can now be 120%.
However, according to Embark, you can fix the bug by resetting the zoom sensitivity multiplier back to 60% in the settings.
It is certainly to be hoped that Embark will quickly fix the bug and restore the gunplay. The innovative and fun weapon handling is one of the strengths of the shooter and makes The Finals the best shooter of the year 2023 for me.
