In The Division 2 there have been discussions about the difficulty level surrounding the new raid. Many agents on the consoles PS4 and Xbox One find the raid too hard. Now fans have identified a possible reason.
What is the problem with the NPCs? Many players are currently reporting that the enemies in The Division 2 behave strangely. This is not the first time such problems have been discussed.
In the past, NPCs were a topic, when a bug caused them to behave excessively aggressively. The bug was supposedly fixed.
Since the last update in The Division 2, the problem seems to have returned – and with even greater intensity than before.
This leads to discussions among fans, which are also related to the new raid.

NPC enemies going crazy
What are the issues? Fans are complaining about several things they’ve noticed about the enemy AI (artificial intelligence).
In the Subreddit of The Division, user Viper-Venom has summarized the most noticeable problems:
- Enemies are behaving much more aggressively, like they did before the actual fix. This even affects enemy types like snipers, who should generally stay at greater distances.
- The movements of the enemies are reportedly much more aggressive, faster, and unpredictable than before. They ignore incoming fire and charge towards players regardless of their own behavior.
- Additionally, enemies are said to be tougher than before the update, although the patch notes state they should have been weakened.
- They are also said to deal increased damage again, despite adjustments made in previous updates.
Viper-Venom writes that he feels the patch is still at the state it was before the PTS (Public Test Server), where the update was tested by players for several weeks, but originally the patch was supposed to be released on April 25.
A large portion of the AI changes that were listed for Title Update 3 seem to be completely missing, and I doubt it was intended.

Viper-Venom also suspects that the high difficulty of the raid, especially on consoles, is related to the “broken” AI.

The AI was praised at release
This is what other players say about the problems: Viper-Venom is not the only one reporting issues. Many wish for the enemy behavior that was present at release. At that time, our author Sven also took a liking to the enemy AI.
VelvetThunder writes: “They [NPCs] were smart and punished you when you made a mistake. Now they seem random and either rush at you and open fire blindly after looking for cover for a few seconds and running in circles […].”
Many criticize the suicidal and dumb behavior of the enemies. Especially in the raid, which is designed for 8 players, the problems become even more apparent.

How could the problem be solved? If the assumptions of some players are correct, Massive just needs to bring back the changes that should already be in the game.
In general, most wish for the enemy AI to behave more tactically again and not rush headlong into open fire. Overall, the AI should function more like it did at release.
But how do you see it? Do you agree with the criticism? Or do you think the AI is just right? Write in the comments.
