Season 7 starts in Diablo 4 in January and brings new content. Currently, many players are testing the new season – and in doing so, they have discovered a small change in the base game that was not previously known.
What’s new in Season 7? Currently, the PTR (Public Test Realm) for Season 7 is underway, and all players playing Diablo 4 through Battle.net can already check out the content:
- The theme of the new season is “Season of Witchcraft”. Based on this, there are the new witchcraft powers that represent the season’s mechanics.
- The new armory, where you can save, rename, and switch builds. This is a feature that players have been requesting since the release of Diablo 4.
- New uniques and a rework of ancestral items, after rare drops were often criticized by the community.
What are players praising right now? In addition to new seasonal content, there are also adjustments to existing content and the base game. Many of these have been announced by Blizzard beforehand, while others seem to have only now come to the players’ attention – including a small change in character creation.
What change is being discussed? On the PTR, players discovered a small change in the user interface related to creating new characters. In Season 7, you can easily choose hair, jewelry, and other details from a clear selection during character creation.
Up until Season 7, you’ll select hairstyles, makeup, and jewelry during character creation using arrow keys, which only show their names. This means that sometimes you click through all 20 hairstyles until you find the right one for you.
From Season 7 onwards, you can instead click a button and see an overview. Here is the UI in comparison:
“Great for looking cool”
Here’s what players are saying about it: This is a relatively small change that doesn’t matter much after creating a new player character. For some, however, this seems to be important. On Reddit, heartbroken_nerd writes: “The new UI for selecting certain character customization options is fantastic!”
And Pctcheerandtumble comments: “I know most people don’t really care about cosmetics. But as someone who likes their character to look cool, this is fantastic.” West_Watch5551 points out: “This should have been in the base game already.”
Many players seem to value their characters looking stylish. On the PTR for Vessel of Hatred, hair was one of the biggest topics. The new looks seemed especially well-received for the female characters, who previously had only a handful of hairstyles to choose from for long hair.
In the comments of the post, a user notes that players now only need a similar feature for builds so they don’t have to reset the entire Paragon board every time. He seems to have overlooked that Blizzard is introducing exactly this feature in Season 7 – and you can already test it on the PTR.
