Simultaneously with the Warmind DLC, on May 8, 2018, Update milestone 1.2.0 arrives in Destiny 2. With this update, Bungie aims to improve matchmaking in the Crucible. We show what changes are planned for finding teammates in PvP.
With the launch of the Warmind expansion, Bungie finally responds to an important demand from the PvP community. As part of the matchmaking, the Update 1.2.0 will provide more support to solo players when they face pre-made fireteams.

Fireteam Matchmaking – It will be easier for solo players
What is the problem? Solo players struggle when they encounter well-coordinated enemy teams in the Crucible of Destiny 2. Fixed fireteams have a clear advantage, especially since the average skill level as a team significantly increases. Currently, even the best solo players win less than 50 percent of their matches in the Crucible.
How does Bungie plan to solve it? Bungie is now adjusting some matchmaking mechanics behind the scenes that should make life a bit easier for individual players. The system behind it is called Fireteam Matchmaking. This way, solo players should have more balanced chances, even when they have to go into battle against fixed fireteams.

What does that mean? In plain terms, this means that not only skill but also team size will be crucial for the choice of opponents. Previously, solo players faced roughly equally skilled teammates who had grouped together before the match, but in the future, they will face teams of individually weaker players.
Due to the size of the fixed group and the resulting modifier, they will be rated as a group higher in skill and thus sent against correspondingly stronger individual players.
Initially, the modifiers will be kept rather conservative and will be adjusted as needed based on player feedback. These settings can be made server-side and without an update. Accordingly, Bungie could quickly make adjustments if necessary.
Are you often playing solo in the Crucible? What do you think of this change?
