The strategic team battle game Pokémon Unite was released in July 2021. We take a look at the costumes and outfits (skins) that trainers and Pokémon can wear in the game.
What’s new: Pokémon enters the MOBA genre and brings with it Pokémon Unite, an arena battler for Nintendo Switch as well as for Android and iOS. Those familiar with games of this genre know that cosmetic modifications of characters play an important role. The so-called “skins” change the appearance of the fighters, but not their strength.
For Pokémon Unite, some of the outfits that trainers and Pokémon can wear are already confirmed. Snorlax with floaties is just one of the highlights.
Costumes for Pokémon in Pokémon Unite
Where does the info come from? Some of the outfits were briefly seen in the new trailer for Pokémon Unite. The Japanese website for the game offers a closer look (via pokemonunite.jp). Colorful graphics showcase which costumes Pikachu, Snorlax, Gyarados, Mr. Mime, Machamp, and other Pokémon can wear.

In Pokémon UNITE, players have the opportunity to customize the appearance of their character as well as that of the Pokémon. Therefore, in “Unite Battles” not only fighting skills but also individual styles can be showcased. Thanks to “Holowear,” a special technology that uses “Aeos energy,” even Pokémon can wear various outfits. Additionally, players can customize the appearance and clothing of their character as well as their accessories so that they always look stylish. Players can also add a “Unite snapshot” to their profile, featuring their character and Pokémon. This photo can also be edited by changing the character’s facial expression or pose or by adding stickers. “Unite snapshots” can be viewed before the battle begins.

The Aeos energy mentioned in this text is obtained through battles. When you defeat wild Pokémon or opposing Pokémon from other players, you can then pick up the Aeos energy. You need it to score points for your team in the “goal zones.”
By competing in battles, you earn in-game rewards. These unlock more Pokémon, outfits for trainers, and Holowear for Pokémon.
Can it be purchased as well? The official website of the game states (via unite.pokemon.com): “You can also unlock Pokémon and purchase items with real money.” What items exactly this involves and what prices they will have is still unclear.
Costumes for Trainers in Pokémon Unite
In line with your Pokémon, you can also outfit the trainers in the matching style. This includes cool Snorlax hoodies, leather jackets, and casual outfits.
