Pokémon GO started the Snap Event with Shiny Farbeagle. We show you how to catch Farbeagle and how many chances you have per day to encounter the Pokémon.
What’s happening in Pokémon GO? On April 29, 2021, the Snapshot Event (Snap Event) started, giving you the chance to encounter Shiny Farbeagle for the first time. However, you won’t find this Pokémon easily in the wild, but you need to use your camera on your smartphone. Farbeagle only appears after you have taken a snapshot.
Here we show you an overview of how to catch Farbeagle and why you have 60 chances.
Catching Farbeagle in Pokémon GO – Here’s how
This is what you need to do: To attract Farbeagle with a snapshot, first, you need to start your game and open your Pokémon storage. Now choose any Pokémon from your collection. The type or species does not matter.
Now, after you have selected a Pokémon, press the camera icon in the top right corner. With the AR feature on, your camera will open. Look around and tap on the yellow footprints (if you have activated the AR feature) when they appear. The selected Pokémon from your collection will then appear.
Now take a picture of the Pokémon with the capture button and then check the result. In the photo, you will see a Farbeagle doing a “photobomb” – it secretly popped into the shot. Save the photo or delete it and go back to the “normal” game, where you can see the Pokémon near you and your trainer.
Right next to you, a Farbeagle should now appear. Tap on it. With some luck, it is shiny. If not, catch it and start the action again from the beginning. Keep in mind that you cannot take 15 photos in a row and then find 15 Farbeagle at once. It starts all over again after each individual catch:
- Select a Pokémon from your collection
- Press the camera
- Take a photo of the selected Pokémon
- In the preview, you see the photobomb by Farbeagle
- Back to the overview, and Farbeagle appears next to you to catch
- Then select another Pokémon from your collection and repeat the steps
How many chances do you have? Through the mentioned method with the photobomb, you can encounter Farbeagle 15 times per day. After that, Farbeagle will no longer appear in the photobomb for the rest of the day and subsequently next to you in the wild. Since the event runs until Sunday, you have 4 days for this. So 4 times 15 chances = 60 chances.
That’s why you should use all 60 chances
What is the chance of a shiny? This is unclear. It is assumed to be around 64% (via reddit.com). So, it is quite possible to get at least one shiny with the 60 attempts.
Shiny Farbeagle is extremely rare: Even though the chance itself is quite high at 64%, we advise you to use all 60 chances. Because after the event, you will not encounter the shiny Farbeagle anymore. Niantic explains this in the official post:
“With some luck, you might even come across a Shiny Farbeagle! However, note that Farbeagle will only appear a limited number of times in snapshots and that Shiny Farbeagle will not appear after the event.” (via nianticlabs.com)
