There are leaks indicating new items in Pokémon GO. And they could be really strong.
Pokémon GO is regularly updated with new content. This includes new monsters as well as new items and features that find their way into the game, like the Dyna-Mushroom recently.
Recently, there have been several hints from data mining suggesting that there could soon be 2 new items in Pokémon GO. And they are likely to be very familiar to players of the main series: the silver and gold bottle caps.
Strong IVs for everyone – possibly
What are bottle caps? In the main games, the two bottle caps have been around since the Sun and Moon editions. They ensure that IVs, or the attribute values of your Pokémon, are enhanced in battles. With a silver bottle cap, an IV value can be raised to the maximum, and with the golden variant, even all of them.
Currently, the hints that these two items could appear in Pokémon GO are increasing. Recently, a leak pointed to corresponding tutorials (via reddit), and in a new leak, icons for the two items were also found (also via reddit).
What would change with the items? If the bottle caps really get released in Pokémon GO and the functionality resembles that of the main games, it would be a significant change. You could enhance your rare and legendary monsters that do not have good IVs and even turn them into hundos.
This could be particularly worthwhile for monsters like Diancie, which you can only obtain once in Pokémon GO. You could also prepare Pokémon with IVs approaching 0 for the battle leagues with the silver bottle caps.
When will the items come into play? Be sure to note that the current findings are not official information from Niantic. All information comes from so-called data mining, where technically skilled individuals look at content, such as images, that have been added to the game.
This does not mean that the features are about to be released. It is possible that it could take a long time before the bottle caps are released, and also that they may never appear, as Niantic may ultimately decide against them.
When exactly and in what form you will receive the new items is currently unclear. However, it is clear that they would bring one of the strongest changes to the game if they are released.
