Tickets for Community Days or the GO Fest can now be gifted to other Trainers in Pokémon GO. The new option makes this possible. However, Trainers notice that there is a problem if the gifted Trainer already has a ticket.
How do you gift tickets? On May 17, Niantic announced that the new gift option is active in Pokémon GO. Event tickets, such as the special research for the Community Day in May, can be purchased and sent to friends. The requirement is that you must be at least “Super Friends.” More tickets, such as for GO Fest 2022, are expected to be available for gifting soon.
Trainers have already tried out the new feature and explain that the system still has issues.
Trainers warn about this issue
This is what happened: On reddit, Trainer Benthefighter shows a screenshot of his gift attempt. He writes, “If you buy a ticket for someone who already has it, you still have to pay (no warning until after you’ve paid).”
The error message states that the gift could not be sent. “It seems that the intended recipient has received this item before your purchase could be completed.”
To request a refund, the Trainer should contact the app store.
How can you gift a ticket? It’s very simple. First, open the in-game shop in Pokémon GO, where you usually buy your tickets. Now tap on the event for which you want to gift a ticket. The €1 research for the Community Day in May is an option.
Under the purchase button, you will also find a button called “Gift.” Tap this and then select from your friends list the friend you want to gift the ticket to.
Then confirm your purchase and follow the instructions on the screen. For the gifting to work, you must be at least super friends. Niantic also states that the friend must not already own the ticket. Additionally, the friend must not have received the ticket from another Trainer.
What is the problem? In the community, there is a desire for more clarity regarding the gift feature. We at MeinMMO have tried it out and found:
If you want to buy a ticket for a friend who already has a ticket, you will be informed in the game and cannot buy a ticket for this friend.
In the case of Trainer Benthefighter on reddit, his gift recipient must have purchased his ticket around the same time it was gifted to him. Therefore, a charge was deducted from the giver without the gifting process being successful.
It seems to be a very specific issue.
If the gifted Trainer already owns the ticket before you start your gifting process, you cannot gift the recipient another ticket.
