In Pokémon GO there is now a new feature that finally allows you to see how strong your developments will be. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at this new feature and will show you what it entails.
What kind of function is it? Niantic had already announced on their blog a few days ago that there would be a new preview feature in the game (via pokemongolive.com). This feature should show you how strong the evolution will be even before you develop it. The function has finally been released since September 14th, and we will show it to you.
Here’s how you see how strong your evolution will be
If you wanted to evolve a Pokémon in the past, you didn’t know how strong it would be afterward and whether you could still use it in a certain PvP league. Niantic has now changed that with a new function.
When you click on a monster you want to evolve, you will now first see an overview. As you can see in the following image, it shows you which monster you want to evolve and how strong the current CP of that Pokémon is.
To the right, you will see the corresponding evolution and the expected CP. Before you decide whether you want to perform the evolution, you will also be informed which PvP league your respective evolution is still suitable for.
The league is indicated by the note “This Pokémon exceeds the CP limit for some battle leagues.” The individual leagues are listed there and marked with a checkmark on the right if the monster is allowed to participate in that league afterward.
Evolution of the best buddy
A special case regarding CP in Pokémon GO is the buddy Pokémon. If you have reached the “Best Friends status” with this buddy – that is, filled all hearts – you receive a special buddy bonus for this monster. How you interact with your buddy, we have summarized here.
If you continue to have this Pokémon actively set as your buddy, it receives a CP boost that will benefit you in battles. This boost has also been taken into account in the new function.
For example, the post by reddit user TehWildMan_ shows his best buddy Chansey, which he has chosen to evolve. This was directly recognized by the new feature, which is why the question is already read in the heading if he wants to evolve his best buddy.
In addition to the normal CP, the CP with the activated buddy bonus is also displayed. This can be seen below the respective other CP value. This way, it is directly recognizable for you whether you can use your monster in certain leagues with a buddy boost. The reddit users are pleased in the comments that this option was also considered in the new function.
How does the preview work with Eevee?
Another special case is the Pokémon Eevee. This has multiple evolutions, which require different conditions to evolve. If you want to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, Flareon, or Jolteon, you will need some luck.
These three Eevee evolutions happen randomly. This also raised the question in the reddit community of whether you can see ahead of time which monster it will be through the new feature (via reddit.com). Unfortunately, that is not possible.
As you can see in the previous image, you only get an approximate indication of the new CP in the overview. The image of the evolution has also been replaced with a question mark. It remains a surprise which Pokémon you will get as an evolution from Eevee.
What do you think of the new feature? Do you think it’s cool that you can now see before evolving in which battle league you can still use your monster afterward? And have you already tried the function? Feel free to share your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange views with other trainers on this topic.
Soon, Pokémon GO will have the Fashion Week and bring you Coiffwaff and another new feature: Form Changing. We’ve looked at what Form Changing is and will explain it to you.
