In Pokémon GO, Zorua is finally ready to be caught. This also includes its evolution Zoroark. We show you everything about the encounters and whether there is a shiny Zorua.
What’s new? Since the evening of October 28th, players can finally catch Zorua in Pokémon GO. The Pokémon was actually supposed to appear in the game much earlier. However, an error caused the Niantic team to have to disable the spawns.

Zorua, the “Ditto” Pokémon, is here
What went wrong: The Pokémon team originally planned for Zorua to appear during the Spotlight Hour with Shuppet on October 25th. With a surprise event, the Pokémon even briefly appeared in the game, and early trainers in the time zones could secure strong specimens.
However, this did not go according to plan. Due to an error, Zorua appeared much too strong, and Niantic had to step in. They quickly deactivated the Pokémon again, and trainers in the later time zones had no chance to catch the Pokémon during the Spotlight Hour. Now, the Pokémon, along with its evolution, is finally in the game after a three-day delay.
Update from October 29th at 12:50 PM: The second release of Zorua is also plagued by problems. Due to a crazy bug, Niantic had to deactivate GO Plus.
This is how catching works: Zorua “disguises” itself as your buddy Pokémon. So if you see the same Pokémon in the wild that you use as a buddy, Zorua might be hiding behind it. After the catch, you will see an “oh” on the screen, similar to an encounter with Ditto.
The caught Pokémon then transforms into Zorua. You can watch the encounter with Zorua in a video by FleeceKing:
Can you catch shiny Zorua? No, shiny Zorua is not yet available in Pokémon GO. If you have a shiny buddy Pokémon beside you, then the “disguised” Zorua on the map is also shiny. You can easily recognize it by this feature. In the Twitter video, you can see the shiny Rayquaza transforming into Zorua.
How strong is it? According to early reports from trainers, the IVs of Zorua are randomly chosen after being caught. It does not receive the same battle stats as your buddy. “A friend and I caught one in the same location. Level and spawn points are the same for everyone, but the IVs are random,” writes trainer Tpabayrays2 on reddit.
This is how the evolution to Zoroark works: With 50 Zorua candies, you can evolve Zorua into Zoroark. Especially now during the Halloween event, it is easier to collect the needed 50 with the many candy bonuses.
How do you like the new encounters with the “Ditto” Pokémon? Do you think it’s cool to see your buddies on the map and have you maybe already caught one yourself? Please share your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
