In Pokémon GO, you currently have the chance to encounter the legendary Pokémon of the lake trio in the level 5 raids and the battle league rewards. A trainer recently shared an encounter with Zamazenta and explained how it happened.
What happened? In Pokémon GO, you can encounter legendary Pokémon in the regularly occurring level 5 raids as well as in the GO Battle League rewards starting from rank 20. These monsters rotate at irregular intervals, but remain consistent in the level 5 raids and battle league rewards.
That is also the case currently. You can encounter the lake trio, consisting of Mesprit, Selfe, and Tobutz in level 5 raids and starting from rank 20 in the battle league. However, a trainer had an encounter with Zamazenta and explains on reddit how he achieved this.
This trick allows you to encounter Zamazenta
Instead of encountering one of the Pokémon from the lake trio in the battle league rewards, trainer AnraoWi encountered the legendary monster Zamazenta. This Pokémon was last available to be caught in Pokémon GO on September 1, 2021, before being replaced by Lugia.
So how could this encounter happen? To encounter Zamazenta, AnraoWi used a trick that he shows in the following reddit post. According to him, he turned off the GPS on his smartphone and restarted his device so that the game could not determine his current location.
According to his account, he then only sees a blank map with his avatar, and a red message appears at the top of the screen indicating that no GPS was found. Other activities, such as evolving Pokémon and accessing the GO Battle League, are still possible.
He shows in his video how he claims his reward in the GO Battle League. Normally, he should encounter the lake trio. However, due to the disabled GPS, Pokémon GO could not assign him any of the current legendary monsters in the reward, which is why there was an encounter with Zamazenta.
What the community says about the trick
In the reddit community, many are amazed by the encounter with Zamazenta and wonder why this monster was selected. Before the lake trio appeared in the rewards, Lugia was available there. For this reason, trainers speculate in the comments of the video why there was no encounter with Lugia:
- Idkwnisu: “I think it might be because Selfe & Co are position-bound, but Lugia is also bound because it has a special move. Many people have complained that a Lugia from the raid was caught without GPS without Aeroblast, so it’s probably related to GPS, and Zamazenta is the last encounter that has been hard-coded so far.”
- 2020Zombie: “Probably because Zamazenta was the level 5 raid boss when the season started.”
- AnraoWi: “I can’t think of a good explanation for this behavior. Maybe because Zamazenta is currently the last Pokémon in the alphabet that is available in Pokémon GO?”
Some trainers are happy to learn that they can encounter Zamazenta this way and want to try this trick as well. Evan_james writes, “This is actually a good glitch for us who don’t want the lake trio.”
What do you think of the trick to encounter Zamazenta, even though it is currently not in the game? Will you try it out or would you rather stick to the current reward, the lake trio? Feel free to leave your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments.
