Pokémon GO announced an event around Barschwa. This can only be obtained from field research. The rural players are already worried.
What happened? On January 19, Pokémon GO will hold the first limited research. During the event, you will get the chance to encounter shiny Barschwa from field research. But this is exactly where players see the problem.
Do rural players have a disadvantage in limited research?
What is the problem? Players from villages or small towns know the issue: They usually have only a few PokéStops in their area. But if you can only receive one quest for Barschwa per PokéStop, then you cannot catch many event Pokémon in the entire three hours.
The chance of getting a shiny Barschwa is also low. What are the odds that in a village with 4 PokéStops a shiny Barschwa is present?
Opinions from the community
Players from large cities haven’t really thought about the problem, but rural players are concerned.
What players are complaining about: So writes the Reddit user “Eecnahz” in dismay: “So I have 14 PokéStops in my area. Is that all I have to do in these three hours?”
Additionally, the user “PsYcHoSeAn” expresses criticism about the event: “The Community Day is already challenging for rural areas due to the reduced number of spawn points. But now the shinies are only available in PokéStops? I know cities where there are only about 10 stops, and we only have about 30. So I have only 30 chances in these 3 hours, or I have to move my butt to nearby cities? That sounds silly.”
What players believe: So that everyone can complete field research in the full three hours, players need to go to larger cities. Depending on how challenging the quests are, you can complete over 100 field researches within three hours. But not everyone has that many PokéStops.
How could Niantic solve the problem? No one knows yet how the event will unfold. Niantic could have already considered the players’ concerns and prepared answers so that rural players do not miss out during the event.
What do you think about the event? Do you have enough PokéStops for the event?
