The first event in November 2022 at Pokémon GO starts in a few hours. With Día de Muertos, you can expect costumed Pokémon and candy bonuses.
What is this event about? Día de Muertos 2022 is celebrated to honor deceased friends or family members. The holiday is widespread in Mexico and other parts of America and is also to be celebrated in Pokémon GO.
There are new costumed Pokémon, event bonuses, a collector’s challenge, changed spawns, special encounters in smoke and lure modules, field research tasks, and changed raid bosses for you. We provide an overview of all event content.
When does Día de Muertos 2022 run? The start is on November 1 at 10:00 AM local time. The event ends on Wednesday, November 2 at 8:00 PM local time.
New Costumed Pokémon and Bonuses
New Pokémon: During the event, you’ll encounter Zwirrlicht for the first time with Cempasúchitl crown*, Zwirrklop with Cempasúchitl crown, and Zwirrfinst with Cempasúchitl crown.
Evolution from Zwirrlicht to Zwirrklop costs 25 Zwirrlicht candies. Evolution from Zwirrklop to Zwirrfinst costs 100 Zwirrlicht candies.
What bonuses are there? During the event, you will receive three bonuses:
- Double candy for catching Pokémon
- Smoke lasts 90 minutes during the event (adventure smoke does not count)
- Lure modules last 90 minutes during the event
Collector Challenge and Avatar Items
Collector Challenge: During the event, you should solve this challenge. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with an Alola-Knogga. Additionally, you’ll receive a Knursp and smoke as rewards.
For your avatar: For the event, Pokémon GO provides a new avatar item that will also be available in the in-game shop after the event.

Event Spawns: During the event, you will encounter the following in the wild:
- Tragosso*
- Lampi*
- Sonnkern*
- Roselia*
- Lichtel*
- Flauschling*
- With some luck: Zwirrlicht with Cempasúchitl crown*, Driftlon* or Makabaja*

Smoke and lure modules: The following Pokémon will be attracted by smoke and lure modules during Día de Muertos 2022:
