In Pokémon GO, the GO Plus had to be deactivated a few days ago. Now the gadget is finally usable in the game again, but it still seems to not let you catch all monsters. We at MeinMMO show you what limitations trainers are reporting and how the community is reacting.
Why was the GO Plus deactivated? After the first attempt for the release of Zorua during the spotlight hour on October 25, 2022, led to problems, the developers of Pokémon GO decided to release the new “Ditto Pokémon” again on October 28.
Since then, Zorua appears repeatedly in the form of your buddy Pokémon in the wild. But this release was also not without errors. Trainers who are using a GO Plus or similar gadgets in the game and catching Pokémon quickly noticed that instead of a Zorua, they were catching numerous examples of their buddy Pokémon.
This allowed these players to suddenly grab a number of legendary and mythical monsters, which were particularly interesting for the GO Battle League. For this reason, Niantic had to intervene and temporarily deactivated the Bluetooth devices. Hence, catching with auto-catchers was no longer possible.
Niantic finally reactivates GO Plus & Poké Ball Plus
After several days since the deactivation of the GO Plus and other catching gadgets, the use of these devices should finally be possible again. The reddit user laurenlolly shows in her current post that she was able to reconnect with the GO Plus. She wrote, “GO Plus is working again – Melbourne Australia.”
Other trainers also confirm in the comments that they can finally use the popular gadget again. Some players have also received an in-game notification about it, and Niantic has now also confirmed on Twitter that the functionality has been reactivated by them. Therefore, the issues should be resolved.
According to the official statement: “Trainer, the error related to Zorua’s appearance has been fixed now, and the functionality of Pokéball Plus and Pokémon GO Plus has been restored. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We thank you for your patience.”
Trainers still report problems catching with GO Plus
What is the problem? Although the error has reportedly been fixed by Niantic, catching with the GO Plus still does not seem to work properly. According to statements from some trainers, certain monsters still cannot be caught with it. These are specimens that correspond to the trainer’s own buddy.
This means that in time zones where the Halloween event is still active, Zorua cannot be caught with the auto-catchers. Furthermore, this can ultimately affect possible encounters with Shinys or monsters with an IV of 100% since all other specimens of this type cannot be secured using the gadgets.

- Amazon_UK: “That actually sounds kind of horrible. My buddy is Yamask, one of the monsters with a lower catch rate for this event. If my GO Plus avoids them all, I will only get it if I catch it manually.”
While most players are frustrated about this error, trainer richfiles also sees something positive in it (via reddit.com):
“This could actually be a blessing. Think of every other new Pokémon release… Catch one single and make it your buddy. Now your catcher clears away all other random Pokémon, leaving only the new Pokémon that you can catch with berries without the other junk spawns cluttering your map!”
Trainers demand an extension of Zorua spawns
Meanwhile, the Halloween event has already ended in most parts of the world and is today, on November 1st, replaced by the Día de Muertos. Since Zorua was only exclusively announced for the second part of the Halloween event, it is now also no longer hiding behind the buddy Pokémon.
This causes a lot of frustration in the community. Due to the numerous problems surrounding the release of the new Pokémon, some trainers are now calling for an extension of this event part (via twitter.com):

- Karan_WZ: “Let them appear a few days longer, even if they don’t really fit the Día de los Muertos or other event themes.”
- distortarte: “I mean, cool, but I missed Halloween activities because of it. You didn’t even extend the event by a day to make up for it.”
