In Pokémon GO, the first EX Raids with Deoxys are starting. But not every raid actually takes place – some are canceled at short notice. And that frustrates the trainers.
Players were actually looking forward to a new boss in the EX Raids in Pokémon GO. However, the launch went anything but smoothly. Many invitations were revoked shortly before the start of the raid. Trainers who took time off specifically for the event were disappointed. They received some Stardust and Raid Passes as compensation.
Revocation of EX Raid Invitations
When the first invitations to the Deoxys Raids were distributed last week, the chosen players in Pokémon GO were happy. They were among the first to be able to participate in this special battle.
Why is the battle special? After Mewtwo had been the boss in EX Raids for a year, the monster Deoxys took Mewtwo’s place in early October. Trainers cannot battle and try to catch Deoxys anywhere else. This can only happen in EX Raids, for which players from Pokémon GO are invited.
That’s why trainers are sad now: The battles against Deoxys were supposed to take place on October 1st and 2nd. Many players took time off specifically for this occasion or rescheduled appointments so they could appear at the EX Raid Arena at the designated time.
But before the battle began, disappointment set in. In various locations, Niantic canceled the EX Raids. On Reddit, a user reported that their EX Raid was canceled 40 minutes before it started.
Cancellations are normal, but not on such a scale: EX Raids have been canceled in Pokémon GO before. However, not to such an extent as is now the case. Initially, it was thought that only raids in America were affected. Now trainers from around the world are reporting that their raids were canceled.
A Reddit user named flagondry showed that America is not the only place affected by the cancellations. Many EX Raids have also been canceled in Europe.
In our Pokémon GO group on Facebook, Wolfgang S. showed a screenshot of his canceled raid in Austria and commented on the picture with “speechless”.
Are these errors now? The reasons for the cancellation of EX Raids are varied. Sometimes the EX Raids coincide with regular raid dates, leading to cancellations. In some locations, however, the EX Raids were canceled without any apparent reason. The cause for this remains unclear.
Some EX Raids took place despite cancellations
Occasionally, trainers report on Reddit that EX Raids took place despite cancellations. Players went to the raid site and were able to see a raid with Deoxys, although it had actually been canceled.
Confusion in the community: The new EX Raids are confusing for players because invitations are frequently revoked. Sometimes the raids still take place afterward.
