It is becoming increasingly clear that the new Delirium league of the hack ‘n’ slash Path of Exile (PC, Xbox One, PS4) is very difficult. The hardcore leaderboard proves this.
What does the leaderboard look like? The hardcore leaderboard of Path of Exile (PoE) shows which players stand in which position in hardcore mode. Since Delirium started, we have seen a lot of dead players on the list.
This shows that the new Delirium league is very hard and especially in hardcore mode it is anything but easy to stay alive.
A hard league
What is hardcore mode? Who plays in hardcore mode finds himself in standard mode after his virtual death. In hardcore mode, he is considered dead, but can continue to play normally.
Is Delirium really that hard? There have already been some complaints from players that the new league is too harsh. These players don’t want PoE to be simplified too much. They just think that the developers have gone overboard with the current league.
How are the developers responding? There have already been a few hotfixes that slightly lowered the difficulty level – as can be read in the official PoE forum.
These hotfixes reduce the damage that monsters deal by 20%, 40%, and even 50%. Likewise, health points are reduced, and the speed of enemy attacks is decreased.
Did this have the desired effect? As can be seen on the current hardcore leaderboard on the official PoE website, the improvements are bearing fruit. While we still see dead players on the list, they appear much less frequently than before the hotfixes.
Players are divided in opinion
What do the players think about the situation? Changes to the difficulty level of Path of Exile are always a double-edged sword. Part of the community loves that the action RPG is so hard. Others, however, are happy because they simply found Delirium frustratingly difficult.
- Boofalo Soja says on Steam: “I’m surprised at how quickly the developers respond to complaints and address them. Kudos to GGG. It’s refreshing to see a developer truly listen to players and react quickly during these times.”
- Brown_Town86 is on Steam somewhat divided: “The reward changes look fantastic. But I’m a bit baffled that you nerfed the enemies so hard, but it’s alright.”
- Constructer on Steam does not think the adjustments are good: “Seriously? Nerf here, nerf there. Who’s whining? Casuals. The harder it is, the more interesting it is.”
What do you think of the changes? Were the adjustments to the difficulty level of PoE necessary or not?
- Path of Exile is becoming increasingly popular, according to the studio head. Is the hack and slash on the right track?
