In Path of Exile 2, players primarily try to get a value on their equipment to obtain rarer loot. An expert has now investigated this and concluded that the hunt is in vain.
What is this value? Those who want to successfully farm in Path of Exile 2 need many items with the value “rarity of items found”. This value ensures that the items found have a higher rarity level. While the total number of items dropped does not increase, their quality is better.
The value can be increased by many hundreds of percent in Path of Exile 2, which is why players are always hunting for equipment with a value of this kind as high as possible. An expert has now tested whether it is really worthwhile and comes to a sober conclusion.

From 130% upwards, it becomes unnecessary
What did the expert find out? YouTuber ronarray demonstrated in his video on YouTube how much of the important value is enough. For an experiment, he compared different rarity levels under the same conditions, to see how much rarity bonus is really needed.
With a test size of 30 maps each per test, all having similar modifiers for quantity, rarity, rare monsters, and breaches, he compared one set with 0%, 100%, and 200% increased “rarity of items found”.
In the following table, you can compare his findings after 30 maps yourself, the important value of the rare found orbs has been highlighted for you:
| Item / Value | 200% | 100% | 0% |
| Divine Orbs | 5 pieces | 5 pieces | 4 pieces |
| Annulments | 5 pieces | 3 pieces | 3 pieces |
| total rare orbs | 10 pieces | 8 pieces | 7 pieces |
| Chaos Orbs | 64 pieces | 66 pieces | 23 pieces |
| Exalt Orbs | 258 pieces | 332 pieces | 229 pieces |
| Vaal Orbs | 128 pieces | 125 pieces | 69 pieces |
| Orbs of Alchemy | 85 pieces | 63 pieces | 75 pieces |
| Orb of Chances | 5 pieces | 6 pieces | 5 pieces |
As you can see, there is not such a significant increase between 100% and 200% as there is between 0% and 100%. The fact that fewer Exalt Orbs were found at 200% is probably due to the missing ones being converted into other currency items.
By the way: In the experiment, the rarest item from PoE 2 did not drop at all. If you want to watch the experiment yourself, you can find the corresponding video here:

How much of the value is enough? The expert concludes in his video that 200% of the value is too much. Instead, he thinks the best point is somewhere between 100% to 120%. For safety, he would aim between 120% and 130% for regular maps, as investments in higher values become less noticeable. Anything beyond that seems to be in vain. So those chasing higher values are wasting their time.
In the future, the expert still wants to try the experiment with even more extreme values like 400% increase in the value for rare items, even if the scaling may not be as strong as in the first percentage points. He still wants to see if 400% can make a difference again.
While many players want the best equipment for their character and farm and trade for days, one fan feels quite differently. He simply wanted his reward for supporting the developers in good quality, but that has not worked out so far: Player spends €147 on Path of Exile 2, is disappointed twice
