A quest in Patch 8.1 has been changed for fans of World of Warcraft. Players now have the choice to side with or against Sylvanas.
Weeks ago, we reported that Horde players felt forced into a role by Blizzard. Indeed, in Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, there is a new quest line where players must seek out Saurfang and assist him. Blizzard has now heeded the criticism and added a choice.
Spoiler Alert: If you do not want to know anything about the Saurfang quest, you should stop reading now.
Throughout the quest line, we accompany the troll Zekhan and eventually find Saurfang. Originally, the quest required that Zekhan and the player join Saurfang and eliminate the elite troops of the Banshee Queen.
Instead of being forced to accept this quest, there is now an alternative: You can tell Zekhan that you will not betray Sylvanas.
What happens if you choose the alternative route? If you choose loyalty to the Banshee Queen, the game warns you that you will miss out on certain toys and rewards, but you will see a different quest line. Additionally, there is the ominous text “Zekhan will remember” if you oppose him – a clear reference to many “Tell Tale” games.

If you accept the alternative quest, you must return to Sylvanas and report. In this case, she praises the player for their loyalty and explains that you will continue to be “a golden hero in the eyes of the people, whose hands will not be stained with blood”.
Moreover, she has “special plans” for Zekhan – what exactly this will mean is still unclear at this point.
What do you think about Blizzard now addressing story feedback even within a PTR? Do you like having a choice now?
