The developers of Final Fantasy XIV are currently preparing for the upcoming launch of the new expansion Dawntrail. To keep the enormous load on the existing data centers as low as possible, Square Enix is resorting to a drastic, temporary measure.
What is Square Enix doing to relieve the servers? Even now, several weeks before the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, there may be queues when logging into your server during peak times.
With early access on June 28, 2024, and the actual release on July 2, 2024, the situation is likely to worsen significantly. For context: Around the launch of the previous expansion Endwalker, the queues were so long and the problems with error messages so widespread, that Square Enix had to halt sales of the MMORPG.

To prevent something like this from happening again, the new data center Shadow for the European region will go live on June 11, 2024. There, you will find the four new worlds Innocence, Pixie, Titania, and Tycoon, which are meant to temporarily provide refuge for your characters.
What does temporary mean? The new worlds will only be available during the release of Dawntrail and can only be accessed via data center travel. If your server is plagued by long queues, you can use the service to temporarily switch to one of the new worlds.
Please note: On the temporary worlds, you cannot create new characters or transfer your main world characters. However, functions like completing quests and combat content or the content finder will be available without restrictions.

What can I expect with Dawntrail? The new expansion of Final Fantasy XIV takes you to the exotic continent Tural, where all sorts of fresh challenges and features await. Here are the key new features:
- Continuation of the main scenario
- Fresh dungeons, raids, trials, and extreme trials
- New jobs: Viper and Piktomant
- New limited job: Beastmaster
- Raising the level cap from 90 to 100
- The Cosmos Exploration as a content for relaxation
- Comprehensive graphic update
- New content for Gold Saucer, Hildibrand, Field Exploration, Unstable Vaults, Content Assistants, and PvP
- Female Hrothgar as a playable race
