In New World, there is a new, curious bug that can prevent the start of wars over territories. The guild that is being attacked only has to change its name.
What kind of bug is this? In order to attack an area in New World, the attacking faction must declare war. However, it can only do this once it has gathered enough influence in the area.
Influence can be gained through PvP missions in the area. On the map, players can see how much influence each faction has. If an enemy faction reaches 100%, they can then declare war.
However, a curious bug is occurring: If a company changes its name, it can happen that the influence of the attackers is reset to 0%. This doesn’t seem to happen all the time, but companies can change their name at any time and at no cost and keep trying until it works.
Thus, guilds that wanted to exploit the bug can permanently prevent a declaration of war. This is particularly crazy since guilds have a fixed ID. So, it shouldn’t even really matter what the name is.
Furthermore, wars are an essential part of the endgame, which is currently not functioning correctly.
Major Patch 1.1 brings many improvements but also new bugs
How did the bug get into the game? The bug appeared after the release of Update 1.1. This was the first major patch in New World, released on November 18.
The patch brought useful changes like the new weapon” Unheilsstulpen”, new enemies, new quests, and the linked trading posts, but also some bugs.
In addition to the problems with wars, players are also reporting that they have lost their gathering gear. Several players are impacted by this bug. There is also talk of a new item dupe.
When will the bugs be fixed? This is still unclear. However, there is supposed to be a new server downtime today, November 19. Maintenance work will start around 12 PM and is expected to last about 2.5 hours.
With this maintenance, no patch is supposed to be applied, so it is likely that the focus will be on bug fixes. It is very possible that the bug with the wars will be fixed by then.
In general, there were more changes with Patch 1.1 than were presented in the official patch notes. We have gathered the hidden adjustments for you:
