In Lost Ark there are plenty of different ways to keep busy. One very popular one is shown to you right in the first city: the search for Mokoko Seeds. But what exactly are you collecting there and why? The answer is provided by a book within the game itself.
What are Mokoko Seeds? Most players are already very familiar with the small, green and fragrant collectible items in Lost Ark. You need to collect over 1,200 of these pieces in Arkesia if you really want to have them all. You can then claim these rewards in the Mokoko city on Tortoyk Island.
I’m certainly not revealing a secret here. If you’ve spent a few hours in Lost Ark, all of this will be very clear to you. However, a player on reddit has now found a book in the game that finally explains what Mokoko Seeds actually are, why you collect them, and why there are none of them on the Island of Mokoko.
What are Mokoko Seeds really? The reddit user Paulo27 found a book in the game that answers this question. The rare seeds are actually a type of eggs. Inside the Mokoko Seeds are unborn Mokokos that never saw the light of day.
Mokokos, by the way, are small, fairy-like beings that you first encounter on Tortoyk Island, through which the main story of Lost Ark also leads you. By this time, however, you may have collected hundreds of Mokoko Seeds and are wondering why exactly there are not a single one of the coveted seeds to be found on Tortoyk Island, even though they are everywhere else in the world.
A giant had to sneeze
How did the Mokokos end up everywhere? At this point, there’s a brief story spoiler that happens around level 40. The Island of Tortoyk, where the Mokokos are at home, is actually a large, sleeping giant. He provides the Mokokos with their magic and brings the seeds to life.
A long time ago, the giant Tortoyk unfortunately had to sneeze very hard, which caused all the remaining seeds to be spread throughout the world. This is the explanation given by the book “Who hid the Mokoko Seeds?” in the game. The giant therefore sneezed all the remaining seeds off of himself and scattered them throughout the world, and now you get to collect them again.

Why do you collect the seeds? By collecting the Mokoko Seeds on your journey, you bring them back to Tortoyk, where they can hatch and grow up. With each green seed you recover, you theoretically bring a new Mokoko to life on Tortoyk. That’s also the reason why you can collect your rewards there.
The book also addresses why some of the collectible items are so cursedly well hidden, even though they were just sneezed away. The anonymous author of the text wants to explain this, but the book ends at this point. That would have been too good to be true.
