In the western version of Lost Ark, there was an item dupe this week. The situation is related to Twitch Drops and Founder’s Packs. Amazon now wants to take action against this together with the developer Smilegate.
What happened? In Lost Ark, there was a dupe where items from the Founder’s Packs and Twitch Drops could be obtained multiple times. For most, this happened by accident, as a user in the forum revealed. Therefore, he did not open the second package just to be safe (via Lost Ark).
However, there are supposed to be users who recognized the “trick” for duplicating these items.
In the Lost Ark forums, it is reported that some players received their Founder’s Packs up to ten times and profited from it.
Skins were sold that are actually not tradable
What did that bring the players? The players who opened several Founder’s Packs also received the rewards multiple times. These include numerous boxes with materials and silver, one of the two in-game currencies.
From the perspective of many players, however, it is worse that the skins from the packs could be sold for gold in the auction house. Gold is the significantly rarer currency in Lost Ark and is used for purchases in the auction house.
It is therefore not included in the Founder’s Packs.
Trading should not be possible at all: Curiously, the situation is that the skins from the Founder’s Packs actually cannot be traded. At least that is what the tooltip in the game says.
Yet selling in the auction house is still possible.
Players who did not purchase the expensive Founder’s Packs were able to obtain the skins like the mount through in-game currency and accepted this gratefully. The dupers, on the other hand, made a good profit in gold.
Exploit affected less than 4% of accounts, Amazon takes action
What does Amazon say? In a forum post, the developers stated that there were some players who benefited from duplicated items from Founder’s Packs and Twitch Drops. Overall, less than 4% of accounts are said to be affected, and most of them only received a few items twice. The premium currency was also not affected by the dupes.
The bug has since been fixed, and they are working with the developer Smilegate to remove the additional items.
It is quite possible that the items will be removed from the game with the upcoming hotfix today. However, the update is under criticism for coming at an inconvenient time.
However, it is unclear how the earned gold will be handled. In the developer post, only “items” are mentioned so far.
Will there be bans due to the dupe? No. According to developer Roxx, only the duplicated items will be removed.
Can you legally get a second Founder’s Pack? Yes, but only on a server where you have not redeemed the first package. This is one of the changes that Amazon wants to use to make server transfers more attractive. More on this here:
