Fans of The Division 2 were able to watch Ubisoft’s livestream yesterday and discover the roadmap for Year 5. Players can expect a new bounty target, a rogue-lite mode, and even a new DLC. MeinMMO shows you what the future of the looter shooter looks like.
This is the future of Division 2: After not much news about The Division 2 recently, other than unplanned delays, the Ubisoft team revealed the future of The Division 2 and other franchise projects like The Division: Heartland during their “Division Day” livestream last night.
From June 2023, players can look forward to a variety of new features that will be released in the form of four different seasons. These will include new challenges, rewards, activities, and even a new DLC.
- Season 1 “Broken Wings” will start with the free mode “Descent” for all players and will include a modified bounty.
- Season 2 “Puppeteer” will then introduce a new incursion leading to Meret Estate and dealing with the Cleaners faction.
- Season 3 “Outpost” evokes memories and allows players to return to New York City over the holidays, where they will uncover new secrets about Aaron Keener and his defectors.
- The highlight, however, is the new DLC, which will start in Season 4 “Black Diamond.” It will bring new zones, new main missions, a new specialization, and a new structure for the endgame.
Ubisoft is clearly still determined to continue developing the “The Division” franchise. Below, we take a closer look at each of the four seasons and list the contents we know so far for you.
This is what’s in Year 5 of The Division 2
The test servers are already live: First, the Season 1 update is due in Year 5 of The Division 2. It will officially launch in June 2023, but has already been available to play on the Ubisoft test servers since today.
We list the planned timeframes for you. However, keep in mind that things may change here if Ubisoft needs to delay content again.
Season 1 – “Broken Wings” – June to August 2023
Players can expect a new bounty target: Mari Singh. She is the former director of the DC Aquarium. However, the well-known and now monotonous bounty will be slightly changed.
- In the new bounty, you as Division agents do not have to eliminate the target. Instead, you should save civilians who have been taken hostage by Natalya Sokolova and the Black Tusk. Each person saved by players will unlock more of the story.
The castle settlement will also need to be rebuilt or remodeled, as Mari Singh used it as her headquarters. This will continue throughout Year 5 in The Division 2.
New free mode: Season 1 will also bring the new and free mode “Descent” into play. This is a rogue-lite mode that is structured as a simulation.
- In this simulation of “Descent,” you must fend off hordes of enemies as a Division agent, alone or in a group with 4 players, in hopes of receiving better loot.
- You must wisely choose between different talents and weapons to improve your build and tackle increasingly challenging fights.
- Your results will then be ranked on a global leaderboard with other players.
- The event will also have a connection to Splinter Cell, allowing you to grab Sam Fisher’s gear if you purchase the premium pass.
Season 2 “Puppeteer” – August to November 2023
Season 2 brings you a new incursion in Meret Estate. Not much is known yet about it. However, there will likely be another confrontation with the Cleaners. A clothing event has also been announced again.
Season 3 “Outpost” – November 2023 to February 2024
Back to New York: Aaron Keener, the main antagonist from the “Warlords of New York” expansion, apparently hasn’t had the last word.
Thus, in Season 3, you as a Division agent must return to New York City over the holidays. There, more secrets about Aaron Keener and his defectors will be revealed.
- During Season 3, there will also be a holiday event with new cosmetics.
Season 4 “Black Diamond” – February 2023 to May 2024
Finally a new DLC: The fourth and final season in The Division 2 Year 5 will then offer players a new DLC and thus also a new story mission.
- Players should explore new zones in the new DLC, play a new main mission, and experience a new structure for the endgame.
- There will also be another clothing event that you can participate in.
What do you need to play the new content? The new mode “Descent” will, as Ubisoft announced, be free for all players once it launches in June 2023.
However, to access all new content of The Division 2 Year 5, you must own the “Warlords of New York” expansion.
How much will the new DLC cost? The developer has not yet released information about whether the new DLC will be a paid DLC and what it will cost. However, the last DLC “Warlords of New York” had to be purchased separately for The Division 2. It is currently priced at around 18.00 euros at Ubisoft.
However, it was announced that there will be a special offer for the expansion before the launch. Additionally, there will be another free “The Division 2” weekend so that more players can try out the looter shooter before purchasing.
While all these announcements are exciting, it is also important to mention that Ubisoft plans to continue supporting The Division 2 with patches and updates. Year 5 is expected to include several balance updates and bug fixes to make the game as smooth as possible.
Overall, the future of The Division 2 in Year 5 looks quite promising. However, it remains to be seen how successful these new contents will be and how the game will develop.
