A new patch for the MMORPG Guild Wars 2 was released on Tuesday. The focus was mainly on balance changes. However, many of these changes are met with confusion in the community.
What has the patch changed? The balance patch in Guild Wars 2 (via GW2 forum) has made many changes that players did not expect. Especially, the Mesmer suffers from the adjustments.
The focus is on the trait “Illusionary Inspiration”, which was previously used to share boons with allies. This trait has been completely overhauled by ArenaNet: it now heals allies when summoning illusions.
On the other hand, the Condition Engineer received a boost. Some of the conditions he inflicts now last longer, and the trait Chemical Ammunition grants an additional 120 condition damage.
How is the community reacting? The changes to the Mesmer are causing a lot of discussions, especially regarding the fractals for five players. The trait “Illusionary Inspiration” was important there. In raids, the change will likely be compensated by the second Mesmer.
The much larger confusion on Reddit is caused by changes to other classes. For example, the longbow for the Ranger has been weakened. However, this weapon plays no role at all in the current meta of Guild Wars 2.
ArenaNet has also made changes to the Guardian that the community finds amusing. A weapon, the sword, was weakened here, which was already rarely used. Additionally, the trait “Rising Destruction” now passively grants a movement speed buff, which was always desired, but is rather redundant in times of mounts.
What other new features have been added to the game?
However, there are changes that don’t trigger big discussions:
Potions in the wardrobe: In August, the wardrobe was expanded to include the “New Arrivals” section. This area allows the storage of toys, chairs, and musical instruments.
Since Tuesday, more than 80 infinite transformation potions can now also be stored. These can be conveniently used via a hotkey, saving inventory space.
New item in the Gem Store: The Black Lion Expedition Contract is available for 1,000 gems in the shop. Similar to the Hunt Contract that was introduced almost two years ago, this provides you with materials every day.
You only need to select the desired map currency of Living World Season 3 in the home instance. You will then receive this every day by mail. However, the cost of this item only pays off after several hundred days of logging in.
