Players in Genshin Impact are currently being gifted 1,600 free Primogems. The reason for this: The developers have fixed a bug that they are now reverting.
What kind of bug is this? The popular 5-star character Neuvillette is affected. He has a chargeable water attack that deals continuous damage. Especially PC players have exploited the attack to wipe out entire arenas of enemies.
They increased the DPI (Dots per Inch – the speed at which your mouse glides across the screen) and spun the character as fast as they could in 360 degrees. As a result, Neuvillette’s attack flooded all enemies in the vicinity, rather than just those directly in front of the character.
How did the developers fix the bug? This was not intended by the developers, so with Genshin Impact’s Patch 4.8, they released a fix: When controlling Neuvillette, the camera now moves very slowly – to prevent the 360-degree spin.
A bug fix backfires
Why are there now free Primogems for this? Due to the adjustment of camera movements, Neuvillette no longer plays as smoothly as before. Within less than 24 hours, the developers received numerous complaints that many players’ favorite character was now much weaker.
The developers took this as an opportunity to revert the bug fix. In a post on X.com, they explain their reasons and apologize:
After the bug fix went live and the [players] could test it themselves, the players provided a lot of feedback on the correction. Some mentioned that using Neuvillette’s charged attack now felt clumsier, which was indeed an oversight on our part.
After gathering and compiling the feedback and suggestions from the [players], we have therefore decided to revert this bug fix in a later update and to compensate the [players] with 1,600 Primogems.

When will the Primogems and the rollback be available? At the end of the post on X.com, the developers write that players should look forward to further posts. Information on when the bug fix will be reverted and when the 1,600 Primogems will be awarded will follow.
What do so many Primogems mean for players? Primogems in Genshin Impact are a premium in-game currency. They can be used to purchase wishes, upgrade the Battle Pass, or refill Original Resin, an energy source.
Wishes, for example, allow players to obtain new characters for their team or enhance existing ones. 1,600 Primogems are enough, according to the comments on X.com, for 10 pulls
. Per month, one can expect around 34 to 38 pulls. Ten of those are already paid for with the 1,600 Primogems.
