Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) is known for the crazy costumes, skins, and outfits that you can buy in the cash shop. The latest addition from the developers is the Rex skin, which makes you look like a dinosaur.
You either hate them or love them, but they are just as much a part of Fortnite as llamas and pickaxes: crazy costumes! It all started at Halloween with zombies and pumpkin heads, then at Christmas, gingerbread men, Christmas elves, or nutcrackers chased you. And for Valentine’s Day, even a love god and a shabby fluffy teddy were on the hunt.
But the developers are far from done with silly skins!
The Killer Dinosaur on the Hunt
The new skin is called “Rex” and represents a crazy dinosaur costume. At first glance, you might really think it’s a large killer lizard. But looking closer, you see that it’s more of a cheap dino costume, like the ones you often see at kids’ birthday parties with a dino theme.
With its trashy charm, the Rex skin fits perfectly into the chaotic, colorful Fortnite world. To properly announce the new outfit, the developers at Epic released a tweet. There you see a scene where a soldier hides in a kitchen from two opponents in a dino outfit behind a stove.
Fortnite goes Jurassic Park
The displayed scene is a clear reference to a legendary scene from the first Jurassic Park movie, where the main characters also hide in a kitchen from a pack of Velociraptors.
Funny detail: The Rex outfit comes with a cute dino backpack that looks like a smaller dinosaur is perched on your back. The back accessory should also be usable for other skins when purchasing the costume.
However, the Rex is unfortunately a legendary skin and costs 2,000 V-Bucks. That’s equivalent to 20 Euros!
