In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One), you no longer just have to jump out of the Battle Bus and fall like a stone into the depths in Season 3. With new “freefall effects,” you turn into a burning comet, leaving a trail of flames behind!
In Fortnite: Battle Royale, each round begins with you and your 99 fellow players jumping out of a flying party bus over an island. Then, you plummet toward the earth in freefall and deploy your glider just before hitting the ground.
Until now, you could only customize the type of glider. Aside from the regular model, there were umbrellas in the Mary Poppins style, glitter gliders, or the completely crazy floating teddy bear “Bear Force One”.
However, with Season 3 of the Battle Pass, freefall itself becomes even more spectacular!
Freefall effects are the new hit!
The theme of the Battle Pass for Season 3 is “Astronauts and Space Travel”. Teaser images have already shown space suits. In a blog post, there was also mention of a ton of new cosmetic items, including previously unknown items like “Back Bling” or “Freefall effects”.
The freefall effects are now known. In a short clip, the developers at Epic Games spectacularly showed what one can imagine by that.
A comet-like descent!
A player jumps from the bus, and instead of just falling, he comes down glowing like an object during atmospheric entry. His fall is accompanied by a burning trail of flames. An impressive spectacle!

Of course, you are more visible with the flaming trail than when you are gliding around with “Bear Force One,” but many players couldn’t care less. Because in Fortnite, besides winning, it’s also about looking as cool or silly as possible.
In total, there will be 5 such freefall effects in the 3rd Battle Pass. The pass goes online on February 22, 2018, and can be paid for as usual with V-Bucks.
