In Fortnite, several new soccer skins have been released. They are quite extensively customizable – and strikingly colorful.
What are these skins? Fortnite released the “Let Everyone Know” outfits in the shop on September 22 at 01:00 AM. This consists of ten skins with a clear soccer reference: There is the “Goalkeeper”, the “Free Kick Goddess”, the “Red Card Rude”, and some other examples – fitting for the currently ongoing Soccer World Cup.
The special thing is: The skins are highly customizable, even more than most common Fortnite skins. You can either choose one of several pre-made color styles, inspired by various nations – or you can freely decide how you want the skin to look.
From individual parts of the tops, to scarves, pants, shoes, and gloves, you can color a lot of parts individually.
This allows for extremely colorful combinations – which also enables rainbow-colored Pride skins, as reported by the portal “Eurogamer“.
Fortnite releases soccer skins that are as colorful as players want
In the past, there have already been some soccer skins in Fortnite. These included licensed players as well. Marco Reus and Harry Kane are among the hundreds of skins in Fortnite, and the Brazilian Neymar was also part of the game.
For the current World Cup in Qatar, there are currently no licensed skins in Fortnite, and the World Cup itself is not explicitly mentioned, reports Eurogamer. Instead, these particularly eye-catching skins have been released at the start of the World Cup, along with a whole series of soccer quests in Fortnite.
The skins have not been explicitly released as Pride skins, but the timing is noteworthy: Players could create particularly colorful characters in a soccer look in Fortnite while there are significant discussions about the topic of “rainbow” during the current World Cup in Qatar.
Also, the so-called “One Love” captain’s armband, with a colorful heart on it, is causing discussions. Several European associations wanted to use this armband during the games as a symbol for diversity and tolerance, but the football world federation, FIFA, announced sports sanctions for wearing this armband during the games. Consequently, the associations of Germany, England, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Wales, and Switzerland announced that they would forego the armband (via kicker).
In Fortnite, there have already been various events, skins, and other cosmetics that explicitly highlighted the Pride theme (via epicgames.com). Especially the “Rainbow Royale” event has been very prominent.
For example, Epic hosted the “Rainbow Royale” event in September 2022 and called it the “perfect time to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community.” They mentioned that they wanted to “celebrate love, empathy, acceptance, and all the colors that make up the Fortnite community.”
Aside from the new skins, players in Fortnite are currently waiting for the end of Chapter 3, which is currently underway. The end of the current chapter has already been announced – the start of Chapter 4 in Fortnite is now also clear.
